Friendship

Wednesday, Dec 22, 2010 1:17 PM

I am so blessed to have been a small part of what Mark and Joanie do. We had a chance to adopt a couple families for Christmas this year and already formed friendships that open the doors to share Christ. Without Oasis and God working through this ministry we would not be blessed the way we have.

It is great to be around people that have a heart for missions and service for the Lord. It is really inspiring.

All in Jesus' Name

What really blesses me about Oasis International is that everything they do is in the name of Jesus. Anyone can say that they are doing something for God's glory, but Mark and Joani really turn around and give Jesus the praise for everything, and when they could be giving credit to themselves, they remind us that this is all for Jesus and because of Jesus. Thank-you Mark and Joani for being an example of how we all should live!

Agape Christian Church High School (Kalamazoo, MI)

We brought a team of 30 high school students and leaders to work with Mark and Joani at Oasis from August 9-15. What a blessing it was to witness both Mark and Joani's unquenchable spirit and compassion for the people they minister to first hand. The work they are doing with the immigrant community in St. Louis is so valuable and I believe its impact will ring through eternity. Our team couldn't help but be absolutely blown away by all we saw God accomplish that week. This was one of the best short term outreach experiences we've ever had... and we can't wait to go back.

Oasis International is a truly unique and good-hearted organization. During the summer I volunteered, I was fortunate enough to meet and assist individuals and families from across the world and learned a great deal from the experiences. Oasis helps in so many ways: the outreach, clothing, furnishings, child care, English classes, sewing classes, etc., and it's easy to see the Lord working through every person who walks through the doors. Building a better community of all peoples still stands as a distant ideal, but organizations like Oasis bring it closer to a reality daily.

Jr. Apostolic (Visitation Academy in STL)

As the youngest child, with a seven year age gap between me and my older sibiling, I've never been able to understand what hardships my parents had to face when they first moved to the U.S. back in 1988. Thanks to Oasis I've been able to see these hardships and also recognized how lucky I am. For me, to see people working hard even in the worst conditions, is very a inspirational and humbling experience. Not only has my experience at Oasis helped me develop a deeper understanding of my parents and immigrants alike, but I have also seen that language is just a barrier; where words are useless, actions take their place.
